Messing up with cheap jewelry

So, we've all heard about gold, silver and platinum jewelry - it's expensive, but it's quality and healthy. But, did you ever heard about cadmium?

If you never heard about it - Let me help you to understand.

- Cadmium has some awesome properties as a metal. It is added in metal, frequently used in jewelry, it can increase strength in it, so it can't be broken so easily. This metal is usually used in children jewelry. (which is so yucky and awful to put this trash near children)

- We should be worried about this metal. The problem is that most states doesn't have regulations on cadmium in usage in jewelry, so nobody knows which one has and which one hasn't. As we said kids are exposed to cadmium more than adults because they are putting in their mouth. They can suck, chew and swallow. Don't you think it's dangerous?

Cadmium can be also absorbed through the skin. It can cause kidney, bone or lung damage. if it's exposed on skin for a long time (10 years or less) it can cause cancer and harm to your reproductive system. It can attack your hormone also.

- There are some tips how to stay away from cheap jewelry:

- Choose quality over quantity. Sometimes price determines quality is true.

- Stay away from children's jewelry!!!! Don't buy it!

- Be informed about any jewelry you want to buy. This is the best way to be protected.

You are asking yourself, why is your finger green after you're taking off the ring?

- When a ring turns your finger green, it's either because of a chemical reaction between acids in your skin and the metal of the ring, or because of a reaction between another substance on your hand, such as a lotion, and the metal of the ring. Acids cause the silver to oxidize, which produces tarnish.
